Hunger affects every single neighborhood in our region. It impacts people of all demographics. And it hurts. Hunger robs children of a chance to learn, undermines health, and makes getting and holding good jobs hard.
The Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB, www.capitalareafoodbank.org) is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic undernutrition, heart disease, and obesity. By partnering with 444 community organizations in DC, MD, and VA, as well as delivering food directly into hard to reach areas, the CAFB is helping 540,000 people each year get access to good, healthy food.
Did you know that each of the last four (4) years Team MarkLogic was one of the top contributing organizations in CAFB July fundraisers? Last year we raised $4,300. I’ve gone ahead and created Team MarkLogic for CAFB’s Digital Food Drive and set a goal of $5,000. It’s an aggressive goal for a group our size and a lot to ask, but a great opportunity for us to work together to make an impact on our community.
So how can you help? Join the team by going to the team page and donate what you’re comfortable with. The "Donate" link will show you amounts (small to large) and what the impact of the amount can be. Typical individual donations in past years have been small – but with over 40 donations last year we made a real difference.
